Have You Heard?

By

Mrs. Mary (Molly) Ells

Have you heard the eager voices,

Calling  us from every land,

Bidding us be up and doing,

For Christ’s kingdom is at hand?

Do you hear the sound of going,

As God’s mighty armies move,

Striving for his kingdom’s coming

And the triumph of his love?

Do you hear the noise of battle?

Are you near enough the strife?

‘Tis a great and glorious conflict,

‘tTs for life, eternal life.

O friend, have you enlisted?

Are you marching with the host

Who are beating back the enemy,

And are rescuing the lost?

Satan holds our brothers captive,

Sisters dear are helpless thralls;

We must overthrow his strongholds.

We must batter down his walls.

Lo, the evil powers are active,

And we have not time to waste;

Prisoners of sin are dying

And the Master bids us haste.

Prisoners of sin are dying,

‘Tis no time for slothful ease!

They are dying in our own land,

They are dying o’er the seas.

Let all God’s mighty army,

Each one bearing sword and shield,

Advance in strength united

And the enemy must yield.

And when the warfare’s ended,

From the East and from the West,

From the Northland, from the Southland,

We shall gather to his rest.
