Lessons of Praise to God
Do you hear the Robin’s singing
Out among the orchard trees
Do you mark the ceaseless winging
Of the busy honey bee
Do you hear the larks sweet music
Rise from the blooming clover
Do you note how all contented
Seem each happy little rover
Do you hear the swallows twitter
Round their nest beneath the eaves
Do you see their swift wings flutter
In and out among the leaves
Do you see the roses twining
Through the greenness of the hedge
Do you mark the sunlight shining
Over yonder rocky ledge
Every bird that chirps and twitters
Through the branches of the trees
Every leaf that stirs and flutters
To the whisper of the breeze
Every lowly little flower
That beautifies the sod
Are all showing forth the power
Of the ever present God
The roses in their blooming
The robins in their lays
And the wild bees in their humming
Are uttering His praise
Praise God the swallows twitter
Parise God the larks respond
Hear the little songsters utter
His praises all around
Praise God the soft winds murmur
Praise God the waters shout
Each rippling stream takes up the theme
And rings his music out
Her the voices of the forest
In its leafy solitude
Hear them join in the joyful chorus
Praise God for He is good
And the rocks have caught the message
And repeat it to the hills
They send it to the valleys
In the gurgling of the rills
Praise God the valleys answer
And the sunlight smiles reply
And the winds take up the song of praise
And waft it to the sky
Shall you and I be silent
When all the earth cries out
When rock and rill and vale and hill
Send up their joyful shout
Have you heard the mighty chorus
And have you understood
Then join the glad thankgiving psalm
Praise God for He is good.
